About CutKit

CutKit is an operational post-production coordination system for projects that need to connect scripts, source material, editing progress, and tasks.

Purpose

CutKit tracks project structure, shooting days, incoming source material, edit status, tasks, and participants in one project context. It does not replace an editing system, media review platform, or video hosting service; it helps coordinators see what exists, what is ready for edit, and which actions remain open.

Who uses it

CutKit is intended for producers, post-production coordinators, editing teams, supervisors, and project participants who need a shared status source without giving everyone access to every working area.

Main modules

  • Source. Shooting days, material receipt, production reports, backup, proxy, sync, scenes, material, and notes.
  • Scripts / Script Review. Review of how uploaded scripts are split into episodes, scenes, warnings, possible gaps, and anchors before import.
  • Edit. Scene and episode edit status, material readiness from Source, script context, and working notes.
  • Tasks. Post-production work items: type, scope, TC, assignee, coordinator, priority, due date, roadmap, package instructions, comments, and history.
  • Settings. Project type, structure, shooting dates, participants, access rights, project tools, Source readiness rules for Edit, date format, and project tags.

How CutKit Works

A project starts in Settings: project type, structure, dates, and participants are defined there. Scripts go through Script Review before import. Source records material receipt by shooting day. Edit shows scene-based editing progress. Tasks collects open work items and package handoff. Montage cards attach to a specific Source shooting day, go through review, and do not create canonical scenes automatically.

Account and access

Account stores profile, language, contacts, password, notifications, and the user's available projects. Project access is based on memberships, roles, and explicit permissions; hiding UI controls does not replace server-side checks.
